Jags Pull Off Trade With Ravens To Grab Eighth Pick

POSTED: 5:07 pm EDT April 26, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Jacksonville Jaguars made a huge splash in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, trading four picks to the Baltimore Ravens to acquire the eighth overall selection.

Jacksonville sent their first-rounder (26th overall), two third-rounders and a fourth-rounder to Baltimore as the Jags jumped up 18 slots in the draft to take defensive end Derrick Harvey of Florida.

The Ravens were in a position to trade out of the eighth pick after the player they coveted most, Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan, was taken by Atlanta with the third overall selection.

After dropping back to 26th, the Ravens weren't done, jumping up to the 18th pick via a trade with the Houston Texans to take their future franchise signal-caller, Joe Flacco of Delaware.
