Broncos Sign RB Pittman

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos signed veteran running back Michael Pittman on Wednesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

An 11-year veteran, Pittman joins the Broncos from Tampa Bay, where he spent the previous six seasons.

In 145 career regular-season games (78 starts), Pittman has totaled 5,307 rushing yards on 1,316 carries with 21 touchdowns, and ranks second among all active NFL running backs with 3,400 receiving yards on 415 catches with eight scores.

The Fresno State product is ninth in the league among all active running backs with 8,707 career yards from scrimmage and owns 9,951 career all-purpose yards, having also returned 54 career kickoffs for 1,228 yards.

Pittman has totaled 10 career 100-yard rushing performances, including 124 yards in the Buccaneers' Super Bowl XXXVII victory against Oakland during the 2002 season.

With Tampa Bay in 2007, Pittman saw time in 10 games and rushed 68 times for 286 yards, while catching 26 passes for 191 yards.

The running back played his first four professional seasons with Arizona after the Cardinals selected him in the fourth round of the 1998 NFL Draft.

Meanwhile, the Broncos also waived fourth-year safety Marviel Underwood on Wednesday.
