NFL Preseason Preview - Tennessee (2-1) At Green Bay (1-2)

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

(Sports Network) - Aaron Rodgers and Vince Young are among the players likely to make only brief cameos on Thursday night, when the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans square off at Lambeau Field in the final preseason tilt for both clubs.

Rodgers played extensively in last Friday's 27-24 win at the Denver Broncos, and turned in his finest outing of the preseason to date. The first-year starter was a crisp 18-of-22 for 193 yards in the game, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to wideout Donald Driver in the first quarter.

Rodgers has a sharp 92.3 passer rating during the preseason.

Of some concern for the Pack has been the play of primary backup Brian Brohm, who has not shown himself to be ready for a significant role with the team. The second-round pick out of Louisville has completed just 12-of-30 passes for 103 yards with an interception in the warm-up period, and his play could prompt Green Bay to target a veteran backup in advance of the regular season opener.

In better news for the Pack, running back Ryan Grant appears set to see his first action of the preseason on Thursday night. Grant, who began training camp embroiled in a contract dispute with the team, has recently been bothered by a hamstring injury.

Tennessee quarterback Vince Young has struggled at times during the month of August, most recently in the Titans' 17-3 loss to the Falcons last week.

Young completed 9-of-18 passes for 102 yards in the game, but also threw an interception and engineered just one scoring drive on the night. Young has a miniscule 44.4 passer rating during the 2008 preseason, though his completion percentage (43.2) has been light years better than that of backup Kerry Collins (12-of-39, 30.8 percent).

Titans running back LenDale White (ribs), who missed the Falcons loss, is considered questionable for Thursday's game.

Rodgers will make his first career regular season start on Monday, Sept. 8, when the Packers play host to the NFC North rival Vikings. Young and the Titans begin their season a day earlier, when they host AFC South foe Jacksonville.

Tennessee leads the all-time preseason series with Green Bay, 5-3, including a 30-14 home victory prior to last season.

The Titans and Packers will also square off for a regular season matchup at LP Field on Nov. 2nd.
