Rams Re-Sign C Romberg

POSTED: 1:42 am EDT March 21, 2008

(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams agreed to terms with center Brett Romberg on a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

Romberg, a former All-America selection at Miami-Florida, started nine games on the Rams offensive line in 2007, but missed nearly half the season due to injuries to both ankles.

The 28-year-old signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jaguars in 2003, then signed with St. Louis prior to the 2006 season and has appeared in 19 games over the last two seasons at both center and guard.

While at Miami, Romberg was the 2002 winner of the Rimington Trophy, given to that nation's top center.

The Rams also added depth to their secondary with the signing of veteran cornerback David Macklin, who also agreed to a one-year deal.

Macklin, a third round pick by the Indianapolis Colts out of Penn State in 2000, has played in 116 games (75 starts) over eight seasons with the Colts, Cardinals and Redskins. He has recorded 14 interceptions and 368 tackles, including a career-best four picks with Arizona in 2004.
