Gone Fishin' In '09: Dolphins' Taylor To Play One More Year

Sunday, June 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - Miami Dolphins defensive end and former Defensive Player of the Year Jason Taylor announced in a news conference on Sunday he will play just one more season.

The six-time pro Bowler has played his entire 11-year career in Miami, but also announced that he is willing to accept a trade to play for a contender.

"I want to win in '08, that's what I want to do," Taylor said. "I told the Dolphins from Day One that if it was best for the organization I would be open to a trade"

Taylor will be 34 years old by the time the 2008 regular season rolls around, and the defensive end has clearly been frustrated by the Dolphins struggles over the past few seasons, notably their horrid 1-15 campaign of a year ago.

The franchise-record holder in sacks (117) will not be attendance at the squad's upcoming mandatory minicamp due to family and legal obligations.
