Browns Tab Keenan As President

Thursday, May 22, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns announced Thursday that Mike Keenan was appointed president of the club.

Keenan will assume control of the team's business operations and league matters. He will take care of non-football operations, while general manager Phil Savage will be responsible for football operations.

"Mike is deserving of this appointment," said Savage, who is also senior vice president. "He has worked extremely hard in strengthening the Browns' business operations and has been a valuable resource in dealing with the league office. We have an excellent working relationship and both of us, along with (head coach Romeo Crennel), are committed to helping this organization reach its full potential and win as many games as possible in the future."

Keenan was part of the NFL's management council for 10 years, and dealt with labor operations, as well as the Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary cap. He joined the Browns in 1995 and has worked in a number of capacities centering around business, as well as sales and marketing.
