Flames' Nieminen Suspended For Game 5 Vs. Detroit

Calgary Flames forward Ville Nieminen has been suspended one game for a charging incident in Game 4 of his team's Western Conference semifinal series against the Detroit Red Wings, the NHL announced Friday.

Nieminen will miss Saturday afternoon's Game 5 in Detroit. The best-of-seven series is tied 2-2.

The incident occurred when Nieminen charged Detroit goaltender Curtis Joseph at 19:56 of the third period. The left wing was assessed a major penalty for charging and a game misconduct on the play.

Nieminen has two goals and an assist in 11 games this postseason.

Andy Greene had a pair of goals, as the New Jersey Devils kept rolling with a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes at Prudential Center. Patrik Elias and Rob Niedermayer also scored, while Zach Parise had two assists for the Devils, who have won four in a row and seven of eight overall. Their current run, which has them at the top of the Atlantic Division, comes after a three-game slide. Martin Brodeur stopped 21 shots in the victory. Carolina goaltender Cam Ward, who was activated from the long-term injured list Tuesday, played in his first game since November 7 and allowed three goals on 30 shots. Brandon Sutter and Tuomo Ruutu had the goals for the Hurricanes, whose two-game win streak was snapped.
