Oilers Sign Nilsson To Three-Year Deal

Edmonton, AB -- (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Robert Nilsson to a three-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.Nilsson was the sixth-leading scorer for the Oilers this past season, recording 41 points with 10 goals and 31 assists in 71 games. He led the team with a rating of plus-eight. The 23-year-old native of Sweden was acquired by the Oilers in the February 2007 trade deadline deal that sent Ryan Smyth to the New York Islanders. Since making his debut with the Islanders during the 2005-06 season, Nilsson has posted 17 goals with 45 assists for 62 points in 128 games. Nilsson's signing is the second by the Oilers in two days, as they inked defenseman Tom Gilbert to a six-year deal on Friday.
