Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Tim Thomas made 25 saves for his third shutout of the season, as Boston continued to roll with a 2-0 win over New Jersey at the Prudential Center. Milan Lucic and David Krejci lit the lamp for the Bruins, who have won six games in a row and 10 of the last 11 and sport the best record in the Eastern Conference at 25-5-4. Phil Kessel, who was sporting an NHL-best 18-game point streak coming into the game, was held pointless in the victory. Scott Clemmensen stopped 22-of-23 shots in defeat for the Devils, who had their three-game win streak snapped.

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Bryan Little scored twice, including the go- ahead power-play tally in the third period, as the Atlanta Thrashers beat New York, 4-2, sending the Islanders to their 10th consecutive defeat. Mathieu Schneider and Colby Armstrong also scored for Atlanta, while Ilya Kovalchuk had two assists on a milestone night. Kovalchuk, playing in his 500th game, recorded points 500 and 501 in his career. Johan Hedberg made 23 saves for the Thrashers, who have won two of their last three games overall and beat the Islanders for the third time in as many tries this season. Andy Hilbert and Sean Bergenheim had the goals for the Islanders, who fell to 0-9-1 in their last 10 contests. New York is in the midst of its longest losing streak since dropping 10 straight from December 22, 1997 through January 10, 1998. Joey MacDonald made 23 saves for New York, which last won November 29 at home against Ottawa.

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Shaone Morrisonn scored 59 seconds into overtime, as the Washington Capitals rallied from a four-goal deficit to stun the New York Rangers, 5-4, in a battle of division leaders at Madison Square Garden. In the extra session, Michael Nylander stick-handled from end-to-end and his intended pass went off a New York defenseman. Morrisonn followed up the play and pulled the trigger on a slap shot from inside the left circle that sailed over the glove of Henrik Lundqvist. Alex Ovechkin registered two goals and an assist for the Southeast Division- leading Capitals, who have won six of their last seven games. Nicklas Backstrom notched three assists, while the uneven Jose Theodore stopped 21-of-25 shots for Washington, which had lost seven straight at MSG. Ryan Callahan scored twice for the Rangers, who have dropped two straight and sit atop the Atlantic Division. Chris Drury collected three helpers, while Lundqvist allowed five goals on 36 shots in defeat.

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Simon Gagne had a goal and an assist as the Philadelphia Flyers downed the Ottawa Senators, 6-4, at Wachovia Center. Matt Carle, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Andreas Nodl and Joffrey Lupul each had a goal for the Flyers, who have won two of their last three games. Antero Niittymaki made 17 saves in the win for Philadelphia, which has won six straight at home. Dany Heatley had two goals and an assist while Alex Auld gave up five goals on 31 shots for the Senators, who have dropped three of four.

Final Score: Los Angeles 3, Columbus 0

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Jonathan Quick made 24 saves to pick up his first career shutout, as the Los Angeles Kings snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Quick, a third-round choice by the Kings in the 2005 draft, was playing in just his sixth NHL game and picked up his second career win. Patrick O'Sullivan, Raitis Ivanans and Peter Harrold each tallied once for the Kings, who hadn't won since a December 13 contest against Minnesota. Steve Mason faced 42 shots for the Blue Jackets, stopping 39 of them, but Columbus once more provided him with no goal support, getting shut out for the second consecutive game. The Blue Jackets, who have lost three in a row, dropped a 2-0 decision Saturday to Phoenix.

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Rookie James Neal recorded his first career hat trick, as the Dallas Stars crushed the Toronto Maple Leafs, 8-2, at Air Canada Centre. Steve Ott, Mike Ribeiro and Fabian Brunnstrom each finished with a goal and an assist for the Stars, who set a season high in goals scored. Marty Turco made 20 saves for Dallas, which has won three of four overall. Jason Blake and Mikhail Grabovski tallied for Toronto, which had won two in a row but set a season-high in goals allowed. Vesa Toskala started in net for the Maple Leafs, but allowed seven goals on 27 shots and was removed in favor of Curtis Joseph, who stopped 9-of-10 shots.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Mike Smith needed to stop just 15 shots to record his second shutout of the season as Tampa Bay tripped up Pittsburgh, 2-0, at Mellon Arena. Matt Pettinger and Paul Szczechura scored for the Lightning, who put the brakes on a three-game skid and won for only the eighth time all season -- the fewest wins for any team in the league. Marc- Andre Fleury allowed both goals on 29 shots for the Penguins, who could not sustain momentum from Monday's thrilling 4-3 overtime win at Buffalo and lost for the third time in five contests.

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Tomas Vokoun made 27 saves to record his second consecutive shutout and 28th whitewashing of his career, as the surging Florida Panthers blanked the Nashville Predators, 3-0, at the BankAtlantic Center. Rookie Michael Frolik scored twice for the Panthers, who are 8-2-1 over their last 11 games. Pekka Rinne turned in a stellar performance for Nashville, stopping 40 shots in a losing cause.

Final Score: Detroit 4, St. Louis 1

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings handled the St. Louis Blues, 4-1, at Joe Louis Arena. Tomas Holmstrom and Nicklas Lidstrom each had a goal for the Red Wings, who have won four of their last five games. Ty Conklin stopped 33 shots in the win. Patrik Berglund scored the only goal while Manny Legace gave up four goals on 41 shots for the Blues, who have lost seven of the last eight games.

Final Score: Minnesota 3, Carolina 2

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Stephane Veilleux's short-handed tally late in the second period proved to be the game-winner and capped a three-goal comeback as the Minnesota Wild skated to a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes at the Xcel Energy Center. Marian Gaborik had a goal and an assist while Mikko Koivu set up the first two Minnesota goals to help pave the comeback trail for the Wild, who desperately needed a win after dropping seven of their last eight and starting the month with a 2-7-1 mark. Cal Clutterbuck also scored and Niklas Backstrom stopped 35-of-37 shots to notch the victory. Rod Brind'Amour and Ray Whitney logged a goal and assist each while Michael Leighton was beaten for three goals on 23 shots in taking the loss for the Hurricanes, who had won three of their last four coming in.

Final Score: Colorado 5, Phoenix 4 (OT)

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Brett Clark scored the game-winner in overtime, and the Colorado Avalanche held off a Phoenix rally to down the Coyotes, 5-4, at the Pepsi Center. Paul Stastny, John-Michael Liles and Ryan Smyth each had a goal and two assists for the Avalanche, who have won five of eight. Clark also recorded an assist, while Milan Hejduk scored in the victory. Andrew Raycroft allowed four goals on 23 shots in the win. Shane Doan scored two goals in the last five minutes of the third period for the Coyotes, who have lost two straight after a six-game point streak. Olli Jokinen had a goal and two assists, and Joakim Lindstrom tallied a goal in the loss. Ed Jovanovski had two assists, Bryzgalov had a superb 43-save effort for Phoenix.

Final Score: Calgary 4, Anaheim 3

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Mark Giordano and Mike Cammalleri scored go- ahead goals in the third period, as the Calgary Flames held on to edge the Anaheim Ducks, 4-3, at Pengrowth Saddledome. Both Giordano and Cammalleri each added an assist, while David Moss scored for the Flames, who have won three of four. Brett Sutter, son of Calgary general manager Darryl Sutter, made his NHL debut and scored his first career goal. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 30 shots in the win for the Flames. Brendan Morrison tallied twice for Anaheim, which has lost two in a row. Ryan Getzlaf also scored for the Ducks, and Jean- Sebastien Giguere turned aside 28-of-32 shots in the loss.

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Evgeni Nabokov notched his second shutout of the season and 42nd of his career with 33 saves as San Jose scored five times in the first two periods to down Vancouver, 5-0, at HP Pavilion. Patrick Marleau tallied a goal and two assists while Devin Setoguchi and Joe Thornton logged a score and an assist apiece for the Sharks, who halted a two- game skid the last time out with a 3-2 win over the Rangers. Rob Blake and Tomas Plihal also lit the lamp while Dan Boyle added a pair of helpers as the victory improved San Jose to 18-0-2 at home this year and 26-0-3 in their last 29 as the host dating back to last year. The Sharks are now eight games shy of the NHL record for consecutive games at home with a point, set by the Montreal Canadiens in 1976-77 and 77-78 (31-0 with 6 ties). Cory Schneider allowed all five goals on just 15 shots before giving way to Curtis Sanford, who stopped all 16 shots he faced the rest of the way as Vancouver dropped its second game in the last three.
