Avs Sign Parker

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Scott Parker to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old pugilist appeared in 25 games for Colorado last season and finished third on the team in penalty minutes with 70.

A first-round pick (20th overall) by Colorado in the 1998 Entry Draft, Parker played his first four seasons with the Avalanche and was a member of the 2001 Stanley Cup Championship squad. The Hanford, California native was shipped to San Jose on June 21, 2003 and reacquired from the Sharks on February 27, 2007.

Parker has netted seven goals and 21 points in 308 career games with the Avalanche and Sharks.

In addition, the Avalanche agreed to terms with forward Marty Sertich on a multi-year contract. Sertich was acquired from Dallas earlier this month.

The club also announced that it has acquired forward Matt Hendricks from the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
