Golfers Tee Off In Honor Of Slain Pittsburgh Officers

FARMINGTON, Pa. -- A golf tournament to raise money for the families of three fallen Pittsburgh police officers got under way at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County on Thursday.The two-day tournament was organized by the Pittsburgh Fallen Heroes Golf Committee.

Officers Eric Kelly, Paul Sciullo and Stephen Mayhle were killed April 4 during a standoff in the Stanton Heights section of Pittsburgh.The playing field consists of 304 golfers who will play both the Mystic Rock and The Links golf courses during the event."Very happy to get this number," said Lt. Kevin Krause of Pittsburgh Police.The officers' families and celebrities, such as former Pittsburgh Pirates star Bill Mazeroski, are playing in the event."It's great to help out a good cause," said Mazeroski.
