Official Rules


NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN.  A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.  NO SUBMISSION TO A SALES PRESENTATION REQUIRED.  ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY.  VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

ELIGIBILITY:  The Harlem Globetrotters ”Junior Reporter Sweepstakes” (“Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by the Harlem Globetrotters, Mellon Arena, and SMG Corporation (collectively, “Sponsors”) and administered by WPXI, Inc. (“Administrator”).  To enter, you must be at least thirteen (13) years of age at the time of entry and you must legally reside in the State of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio or West Virginia.  Employees of the Harlem Globetrotters, Mellon Arena, SMG Corporation, WPXI, Inc., Cox Broadcasting, Inc., the National Broadcasting Company, and each of their respective affiliated companies, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, such employees, are not eligible to participate or to win.

ENTRY AND WINNER SELECTION:  The Sweepstakes will begin on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 and end on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 (the “Sweepstakes Period”).  To enter:

Visit www.WPXI.com, or www.Pittsburgh.com and look for the Harlem Globetrotters “Junior Reporter Sweepstakes” ad.  Click on the ad to reach the Sweepstakes entry site. Or click on the Harlem Globetrotters “Junior Reporter Sweepstakes” mention in the “Contests” section of the home page.  Enter your name, address (including city, state and zip), email address, birth date and daytime telephone number (including area code) where indicated on the Sweepstakes online entry form. Submit your entry by clicking on the “Click Here to Enter” button. You may enter as many times as you like but only one (1) prize per person.  Multiple entries by means of software generated or other automated processes will be disregarded.

On or about Thursday, December 4, 2008, Administrator will conduct the Sweepstakes drawing and will randomly select one (1) Grand Prize Winner from among all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. Administrator and/or Sponsor will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries, or for failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or Administrator. Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted shall be determined by Administrator in its sole discretion, and Administrator reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes. All entries become the property of Administrator and Sponsor and will not be returned.

PRIZE DESCRIPTION:  One (1) Grand Prize Winner (and his or her parent or legal guardian, if the Grand Prize Winner is a minor) will join WPXI’s “See & Be Scene” staff for a live interview with one of the Globetrotters players. The date and time of the live interview will be determined by WPXI and the Grand Prize Winner (and his or her parent or legal guardian, if the Grand Prize Winner is a minor), must be available to participate on the date and at the time specified. In addition, the Grand Prize Winner will receive six (6) tickets to the Friday, December 26, 2008 Harlem Globetrotters 7 PM performance at the Mellon Arena (66 Mario Lemieux Place; Pittsburgh, 15219). Approx. retail value of the Grand Prize package is Two Hundred Ten Dollars ($210.00).

Odds of Winning: The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

WINNER Notification and Acceptance: Administrator will attempt to notify the winner at his or her daytime phone number (daytime phone number, including area code, must be provided in all entry materials), during regular business hours, within five (5) days following the drawing. A confirmation letter will follow phone notification. Administrator’s inability to reach a winner, a winner’s failure to timely respond to prize notification, the return of any prize notification as undeliverable and/or a winner’s failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules may result in winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in all prizes and, at the sole discretion of Administrator, the selection of a substitute winner from among all remaining eligible entries. Winners may waive their right to receive a prize. Prizes and individual components of prize packages are nonassignable and nontransferable. Any prize(s) not claimed by eligible winners by Noon (E.T.) on December 26, 2006 will remain the property of the Sponsors and will not be awarded. No substitutions or transfers of prizes by winners are allowed. Prizes are subject to availability and Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are solely responsible for payment of any taxes on prizes. The winner may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility, and a liability and publicity release (except where prohibited by law). Failure to timely sign and return the affidavit or release, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner. Prizes won by minors will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian who must sign any affidavit or release required by Sponsor. Except where prohibited, acceptance of a prize constitutes each winner’s consent to the publication of his/her name, voice, likeness, image, biographical information, and hometown in any media (including broadcast, print, and other media) for any commercial or promotional purpose without limitation or further compensation. Participation: By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Administrator and Sponsors. In the event the Sweepstakes is compromised by, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Administrator, which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Sweepstakes, Administrator reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Sweepstakes. Should the Sweepstakes be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Administrator reserves the right to award the prizes based on the entries received before the termination date.

Construction: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of any entrant and Sponsors and/or Administrator, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of Pennsylvania, or any other jurisdiction) that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Pennsylvania. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
