Ravens' McNair Charged With DUI By Consent

Quarterback Was Passenger In Truck Reportedly Driven By Brother-In-Law

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair has been arrested in Nashville, Tenn., and charged with owning a vehicle being driven by a drunken driver.

Police said McNair was a passenger in the silver pickup truck when police pulled the driver over for speeding early Thursday morning. The driver is reported to be McNair's brother-in-law.

Police didn't perform a blood-alcohol test on McNair. Under Tennesee state law, the condition of the driver is the issue. The charge is a misdemeanor.

McNair was booked and released. He didn't comment to reporters as he left, but a friend said McNair had done nothing wrong.

McNair was arrested in downtown Nashville in May 2003 and charged with DUI and illegal gun possession. After a year of legal wrangling, a judge dismissed those charges, ruling that police didn't have sufficient reason to pull over McNair in the first place.
