PITTSBURGH -- Joey Porter is a man on a mission. He's out to prove to the Steelers that cutting him loose was a big mistake.“They had to make a decision. I just feel it was the wrong decision,” said Porter.“I'm not mad at Kevin Colbert. I'm not mad at the Rooneys. They showed me nothing but love for eight years, but, I’m not that happy with them either,” said Porter.Porter will get his chance to get back at the Steelers next November, when the Miami Dolphins come to town for a Monday night game. There could be fireworks when Porter returns to Pittsburgh on the other sideline.“I will make a statement. That will happen. A statement will be made when I come here. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'm excited. Ready to go,” said Porter. It's been almost three months since Porter was released. The dust of his departure has settled. But it's still hard for Porter to hide the hurt.“I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to end my career here,” said Porter. But it didn't work out that way. His new deal in Miami is worth $32 million, much more than he likely ever would have made in Pittsburgh. But still, the disappointment of the way he left looms large.Porter said, “I feel like I did leave somewhat of a legacy here. All-time sack leader. Chance to be a lifelong Steeler forever. For me, not even to have the opportunity to say no. That hurt. They don't know what I would have said no to.”Channel 11’s Alby Oxenreiter broke the news to Porter that a rookie, second-round pick Lamarr Woodley, is now wearing his No. 55.“It's going to be hard on him. Big shoes for him to fill,” said Porter.Porter told Channel 11 he'll never lose his affection for Pittsburgh or for the Pittsburgh fans.“Played here for eight years. Y'all embraced me. I'll always have love for the Steelers fans. The city of Pittsburgh embraced me. I loved being here,” said Porter.
