Check out these recipe ideas from Bravo TV's 'Top Chef'
* Pittsburgh Steelers Roethlis-Burger: A burger named after the star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, called the "Roethlisburger," which costs $7.00 at Peppi's, a restaurant in Pittsburgh. The burger is topped with sausage, scrambled eggs, grilled onions, magical mayo, and American cheese on a Portuguese roll.
* Heinz products are another proud Pittsburgh tradition after which the field the Steelers play on was named. Heinz founder, Henry Heinz, literally sank his competition in the 1880's when he bought the products and equipment of a competing company and sank them in the Allegheny River.
* Primanti Brothers: A Pittsburgh institution, the "almost famous" Primanti Brother's sandwich comes with fries and slaw. What makes it special is that the fries and slaw come in the sandwich, not just with it.
* Isaly’s Chipped Ham: By far, one of Pittsburgh's most famous foods, this thinly-sliced ham made its debut in 1933 at Isaly's, a local family chain of dairy/convenience stores. You can have it shipped to you anywhere in the country.
* Klondike Bars: America's No. 1 selling ice cream bar got its start in Pittsburgh at Isaly's, the same store which brought us chipped ham. Now sold nationally by Breyers/Good Humor in eight flavors.
* Big Mac: The Big Mac was inspired by a similar double-decker hamburger sold by the Big Boy chain since 1936. The burger was invented by McDonald's franchisee Jim Delligatti at a location in Uniontown, Pa. before being picked up chain-wide. Jim Berardi, a biology teacher at Uniontown Area High School in Uniontown Pa., claims to have served the first Big Mac to a customer when he worked at the old McDonald’s at the shopping center on Morgantown Street as a teenager. According to a famous advertising jingle, it consists of "two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun." However, the most distinctive feature is a middle layer of bread that is used to stabilize the contents of the hamburger to prevent spillage.
* Pierogies: Polish dish, pasta dough filled with potato and cheese, onion or sauerkraut.
* Haluski: sauerkraut and noodles
* Cabbage rolls: Beef, pork, rice, green pepper, wrapped in cabbage and baked with sauerkraut and tomato soup or juice.
* Kielbasa: Polish sausage.
* Clark Bar: chocolate candy bar created in 1886
* Italian sausage: with grilled peppers and onions; a ballpark favorite.
* SUGGESTED DRINK **Iron City Beer: Brewed fresh daily at the Pittsburgh Brewery in Lawrenceville, Pa., Iron City beer is definitely a Pittsburgh tradition. One of the first true lager beers brewed in the United States.
