ROAD TO THE STANLEY CUP

Pens Conference Championship Merchandise Hits Stores

The Penguins will be in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1992 after beating the Flyers 6-0 in front of a sold-out crowd at Mellon Arena crowd on Sunday.

Eastern Conference Championship merchandise is already reaching stores. From T-shirts to hats, fans can show their support of the Pens.

Custom Graphics started printing 1,000 shirts per hour around 4 a.m. Monday. The owner called in 30 workers to get the shirts out.

It turns out the players won't be wearing the new items because of their superstitions about not touching anything related to championships until the Stanley Cup.

Maxime Talbot said, "I don't think so, you know. I saw some guys wearing the hat and they were like, ‘No. No don't wear the hat.’ Because you know it's nice to win the conference, but that's not our goal."

The Penguins are still waiting on their Stanley Cup opponent.

The Detroit Red Wings lead the Dallas Stars three games to two in the Western Conference finals. Game six is Monday night in Dallas.
