Former Penguins Continue To Head To Tampa Bay

Posted: 2:14 pm EDT July 8, 2008Updated: 4:39 pm EDT July 8, 2008

Tampa Bay Lightning management continue to sign former Pittsburgh Penguins to try and better their hockey team.

Mark Recchi became the most recent former Penguins player to join the Lightning.

Recchi signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract Monday afternoon.

The 40-year-old winger was the fourth former Penguin signed by Lightning General Manager Jay Feaster.

Tampa Bay has already come to terms with forwards Adam Hall, Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts, who all played for the Penguins last season.

The four former Pittsburghers will join two other Tampa Bay skaters who once played for the Pens. Winger Michel Ouellet played his first season in Tampa Bay last year and enforcer Andre Roy spent the last two seasons with the team. Roy is currently an unrestricted free agent and has yet to resign with the Lightning.

Tampa Bay's recently signed forwards David Koci and Zenon Konopka also spent irrelevant time in the Penguins' organization, which brings the Lighnings' former Pens count to eight skaters.
