Pittsburgh Penguins Victory Parade Cost City $73K

PITTSBURGH -- City officials said the Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup victory parade on June 15 cost the city less money even though it drew more fans than a parade celebrating the Steelers' Super Bowl XLIII win in February.City officials estimate 375,000 fans turned out for the Penguins parade, which cost the city about $72,600, including regular and overtime pay for police, and Public Works expenses.The Penguins beat the Detroit Red Wings in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals to capture their third Stanley Cup.

The Steelers' parade drew an estimated 350,000 fans to the same route downtown on Feb. 3.City crews erected a stage at the end of the parade route where players and coaches from both teams addressed fans. City officials say the Steelers parade cost about $79,500.
