Posted: 7:49 am EDT July 7, 2009Updated: 9:14 am EDT July 7, 2009

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis is in Pittsburgh this week for the first-ever Asthma Sports Camp.

The Bus is teaming up with Children's Hospital for the event. On Tuesday, Bettis, along with children in grades four through nine , will gather at the Arthur J. Rooney Field at Duquesne University to jumpstart the event.

The two-day, free camp will focus on how children with asthma can learn to be physically active in a safe environment, all of which are supervised by Bettis.

Bettis was diagnosed with asthma at 14, but that didn't stop him from becoming one of the best running backs in Pittsburgh Steelers history.

He announced his retirement after the Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl XL.
