Detroit, MI -- (Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings signed defenseman Doug Janik to a one-year, two-way contract Wednesday.

Janik split last season between the Stars and the Canadiens. He appeared in 15 games and recorded one assist with a minus-three rating.

Over five seasons in the NHL, he has played in 161 games and has three goals and 13 assists with a minus-16 rating. He has also played for Buffalo and Tampa Bay.
