CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- After the Tennessee Titans defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers last year during the regular season, players LenDale White and Keith Bulluck stomped on Myron Cope's The Terrible Towel, rubbing it into the turf. The Titans lost their next eight games, and the Steelers went on to defeat the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl.In a goodwill gesture last week, most likely used in an attempt to break the curse of the late Myron Cope, White and Bullock signed a Terrible Towel and shipped it off to the Allegheny Valley School. But was the curse broken? The Titans then went on to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-13, their first victory since the initial stomp of the towel last year.To raise funds for the Myron Cope Special Equipment Fund of its Capital Development Fund, AVS decided to put the signed Terrible Towel up for auction on eBay.Bidding began Thursday and will last until Sunday at 1:52 p.m.Cope created the Terrible Towel in 1975 to inspire fan involvement in a playoff game against the then-Baltimore Colts. Since 1996, the sale of any Terrible Towel product benefits the children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are served by Allegheny Valley School.
