Steelers To Be Without 3 Defensive Starters Monday

Posted: 5:51 pm EST November 7, 2009

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be a bit short-handed when they face the Denver Broncos at Invesco Field on Monday night.

On Saturday, Defensive end Travis Kirschke and linebacker Lawrence Timmons sat out with calf and ankle injuries. Both were officially listed as doubtful on the injury list, but it's unlikely that either will play if they did not practice on Saturday.

Nick Eason will start in place of Kirschke, who was already taking the place of normal starter Aaron Smith. Keyaron Fox will start in place of Timmons.

The Steelers offered no official word on the status of safety Ryan Clark. Clark nearly died the last time he played in Denver, suffering from a rare sickle-cell trait. Clark was officially listed as questionable on Saturday, but is unlikely to play on Monday.

The Steelers have not won in the regular season in Denver since 1990.
