Pirates' Prospect Bobby Bradley Needs Shoulder Surgery
Bradley Will Have Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery
Posted: 3:14 p.m. EDT May 30, 2003
Bobby Bradley, the Pittsburgh Pirates' top draft pick in 1999, is having more arm trouble.
Bradley missed all of last season after reconstructive elbow surgery ended his season early in 2001.
Now, the 22-year-old Bradley will have arthroscopic shoulder surgery in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
The team says Bradley felt a sharp pain in his shoulder last week during a start for the Pirates' Class-A Lynchburg farm club.
In eight starts this year, Bradley was 3-and-1 with a 3-point-11 E-R-A and 25 strikeouts. But Bradley has also suffered bouts of wildness. He had 24 walks, six wild pitches and hit four batters during those eight games.
