PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh football season begins Saturday, but not without some controversy surrounding its star quarterback.
Rod Rutherford is under investigation for allegedly breaking a car windshield and pulling a woman out of the car at Station Square early Monday morning.
No charges have been filed, but the district attorney is reviewing the case.
Mike Karnish, a Pitt fan, said, "(I) hope these allegations aren't true and he can come back and do a good job and Pitt can have the season they're suppose to."
Pitt's head football coach, Walt Harris, issued this statement.
"I am continuing to gather all the information regarding the incident involving Rod Rutherford. The investigative process is continuing and I will not make any decision until that process concludes."
