Rutherford Allegedly Assaulted Woman

PITTSBURGH -- Prosecutors dropped assault charges against Pittsburgh quarterback Rod Rutherford Tuesday.
The woman who alleged that Rutherford had attacked her decided not to pursue charges.Rutherford was charged in September with assaulting the woman outside a nightclub and kicking out a car window after she refused his advances.His attorney said Rutherford has apologized and the two have come to know each other.University of Pittsburgh's football Coach Walt Harris took action against Rutherford after the charges came out.Rutherford was held out for the first quarter of Pitt's season-opening 43-to-3 victory over Kent State in September.He returned to throw four touchdown passes in the second quarter.
