Ben Roethlisberger refuses to look beyond 14th season

LATROBE, Pa. — At 35 years old, Ben Roethlisberger is the undisputed leader of the Steelers, a two-time Super Bowl winner, and a veteran of 13 NFL seasons.

On Wednesday, despite prodding from reporters, Roethlisberger refused to look beyond a 14th season.

“I'm giving everything I have right now, to training camp, to the season, to the first game.   I commit myself 110 percent. I will do that throughout the season, but I'm not going to look past, let alone this season, look past today," said Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger calls his offensive line the "best line in the league" and said they are the reason he "can stay upright and healthy."  He's also happy to have a talented cast of receivers. "I'm excited to see this competition at that position," Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger finally had his "man-to-man" talk with Martavis Bryant, he confirmed Wednesday morning from St. Vincent College.

Roethlisberger said it was a good talk, but more importantly,  publicly questioned why the NFL hasn't fully reinstated the wide receiver.

"He's done everything the league has asked so I am not really sure why they keep holding him up to be out there with the guys," Roethlisberger said. "The best thing for him is to be out there with his brothers. I am not really sure what the holdup is, but I know he's doing everything he can to be out there. I don't know if it is the league or what's going on. Goodness, I think he paid his dues. "

"Only getting sacked 17 times in a year," Roethlisberger said with a smile. "That might keep me around a little longer."

Roethlisberger has a plethora of weapons to choose from and that's why he sees another run at a championship this season.

"Expectations are high. They need to be, especially because of the offensive line," Roethlisberger said. "We go as they go."
