PITTSBURGH - About 1,500 football players and cheerleaders from 70 high schools attended Skylights Media Day at Heinz Field on Tuesday.
High school football is huge in the Pittsburgh area, so it only makes sense to host a huge event for the athletes each year. This was the third annual Skylights Media Day.
WPIAL and City League high schools were invited. Most schools chose to bring their top football players or seniors. A handful of schools brought their entire teams.
Football players, coaches and cheerleaders were interviewed and photographed by WPXI-TV, MSA Sports Network and Trib Total Media.
The event included tours of Heinz Field, food and refreshments, an inflatable QB Blitz game and text contests. Football players and cheerleaders won amusement park and concert tickets. A Bethel Park cheerleader won an iPad.
Thank you to our Skylights partner Eat’n Park. The participants enjoyed Smiley cookies and taking photos with the mascot himself, Smiley, at Eat'n Park's booth.
Skylights Media Day sponsors S&T Bank, Clearview Federal Credit Union, the Marines, GNC, Penn State University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine had booths as well. Their giveways and contests were big hits.
Thank you to all of the football players, coaches, cheerleaders, sponsors and staff members who made Skylights Media Day a success.
