Heavy rain forces Steelers practice to move to Latrobe High School

LATROBE, Pa. — Bad weather didn't keep the faithful away from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, but it did keep the Steelers off the field.

Due to heavy rain and a flash flood watch issued for parts of Westmoreland County, the Steelers were forced to move their practice from St. Vincent College to Latrobe High School.

This was the first practice day of training camp to be open to the public this season.

Back with the team Friday was a fan favorite: lineman and Army veteran Alejandro Villanueva.

The organization locked up the left tackle Thursday with a four-year deal after a very unique situation.

Villanueva enters only his third NFL season after three tours of duty in Afghanistan, so while he is inexperienced, he simply wanted a fair deal.

"When I found myself on the practice squad, I didn't know where I was going to be," Villanueva said. "I was living in a very small apartment on the South Side, with a lot of uncertainty in my future, and so when you're able to get some more stability and make some decisions, then there's a lot more factors that go into, what is it you're going to offer me and what is it that I'm going to accept."

Villanueva told Channel 11 he likes having the stability and now just wants to focus on football.
