PITTSBURGH — A Wisconsin teenager's dream prom won't happen because of school policy.

According to the

a spokesperson for the Waukesha School District said Le'Veon Bell is too old to attend prom. School policy bars guests who are older than 19. Bell is 25-years-old.

"We have to be equitable in the way we treat our students," the spokesperson

. "We don't even know if this is a real commitment."

The spokesperson also said district policy bars from the dance guests who have been involved in drug, alcohol or violent criminal incidents.

Bell was arrested on

in 2014. He spent 15 months on probation in a first-offender's program and was suspended for two games.

Last weekend, Ava Tarantino used Twitter to ask the Pittsburgh Steelers’ running back to her prom, and after a bit of negotiating, he accepted.

Bell raised the stakes, tweeting “600 & it's a deal.”

Well, that goal was quickly met and surpassed. Bell responded with a tweet that said, “a deal is a deal” and he’d see Tarantino at prom.

TRENDING NOW:

“I’m one of the biggest Le’Veon Bell fans,” Tarantino said. “I write on all my papers, “Ave Tarrantino Bell.’ It’s everywhere.”

Tarantino, 17, has been a Bell fan since he played in college for Michigan State.

“When the Steelers drafted him in 2013, which is my favorite football team, I was like, ‘This is perfect,’” she said.

Her love of the Steelers came from her father. Her birthday wish every year is to go to a game in Pittsburgh. She even met Bell in 2014.

"This story proves the power of social media is crazy and there's so many positive things that can come out of it," Tarantino said. "Your dream coming true! My dream!"

Tarantino was looking for the perfect black and gold dress to wear. Bell's girlfriend had even offered to do her makeup.
