MIAMI — An out-of-court settlement has been reached in the civil trial against the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Maurkice Pouncey, attorneys announced Monday.
Pouncey is accused of assaulting a man who is gay and yelling homophobic slurs inside a Miami nightclub in 2014. No criminal charges were ever filed.
The case was to go to trial Monday in Miami, but attorneys Marwan Porter and Richard Wolfe said they will notify the judge during the court hearing that it has been amicably resolved.
More than $500,000 in punitive damages for bodily injuries and emotional distress were being sought by the plaintiffs.
