Penguins trade Wilson, 2018 pick to Red Wings for Sheahan, pick

The Penguins traded forward Scott Wilson to the Detroit Red Wings for forward Riley Sheahan on Saturday, the team announced.

The teams also swapped 2018 draft picks, with a third-rounder going to Detroit and a fifth-rounder coming to the Pens.

Sheahan, 25, has played his entire career with the Red Wings, joining the franchise as their No. 1 pick in 2010. He's scored 38 goals in 292 games. His contract is up at the end of this season.

Wilson, 25, was selected by the Penguins in the seventh round of the 2011 draft. He’s scored 13 goals in 103 games over parts of three seasons in the NHL. He’ll be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
