The Penguins struck gold with their new alternate “third” jerseys.
Unveiled Tuesday, the new designs rely heavily on the brighter of their two primary colors, even incorporating a gold helmet.

The jerseys will be worn during 12 home games this season – find the full list here.
The jerseys will go on sale Nov. 15, initially at PensGear stores before becoming widely available five days later.
Adidas released a statement shedding light on the company’s inspiration for the new design:
Mixing the past with the present, the contrasting black sleeves are highlighted with white and gold striping that are inspired from the Penguins' 1984 jerseys, while the letters and numbering mirror the current home and away jerseys. Additional design details include the sleeve numbers being raised to the shoulder of the jersey to mimic the 1980s look.
