Amy is the Beaver and Butler County Bureau Chief for Channel 11 News.
Amy arrived at Channel 11 in April of 1995. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She received her Bachelor of Journalism degree in 1990 and started her career as an anchor and reporter for KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. She then went on to work at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
In Clarksburg, Amy shot and edited her stories as well as anchored the news. She then served as the anchor and host of the top rated noon news and magazine show, Midday El Paso, at KDBC-TV in El Paso, Texas. Amy moved from El Paso to Kansas City, Missouri where she anchored the news at KSHB-TV, and then joined the Channel 11 News team. Amy and her husband live in Butler County with their two daughters.
At Channel 11, Amy was commended by CNN executives for her calm, professional and accurate live reporting on the Wilkinsburg Shooting Spree of March 2000. CNN carried much of Channel 11's coverage of that live, breaking story which the Channel 11 News team was also recognized for with professional honors.
While in West Virginia, Amy was honored by the Associated Press with a number of awards including her local coverage of the Persian Gulf War, and an enterprise series about cops, cameras and the use of video equipment in crime fighting.
Amy says, "I want people to know that you can't take life seriously." She adds, "Anyone who knows me knows I'm not just the serious reporter you see on TV. I do my job well, and then go home to the most important things in my life, my family."
