Timyka arrived at WPXI in November of 2006 as a General Assignment Reporter. Experienced with the media since an early age, Timyka has worked in a variety of locations.
After working as an intern for KYW News in her hometown of Philadelphia, she went on to be the Executive Producer for “Radio Times”, an award winning call-in talk show on WHYY-FM in Philly. She spent a summer as an Associate Producer for Talk of the Nation in Washington D.C. as well as producing, reporting, and hosting for Tri-State Media News in New Castle, Deleware, Berks County News in Reading, Pennsylvania, WUPW-TV in Toledo, Ohio, and WTAE-TV here in Pittsburgh.Born and raised in Philadelphia, Timyka graduated from Cedar Grove Christian Academy. From there she pursued a degree from Temple University, graduating from the Television and Film program.When she is not on the street reporting news, she takes part in a number of charities and associations including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and the American Cancer Society. She also serves on the Event Planning Committee for Pressley Ridge, and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.Her most challenging and memorable work in news includes the 9-11 Terrorist Attacks, the Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster, the 2004 Presidential Election, and the capture of Saddam Hussein.“It is a blessing to be able to do what I love everyday,” says Timyka. “Working in a city as wonderful as Pittsburgh makes a great job even greater!”E-Mail Timyka!
