Remember when you could sit down with the whole family and watch an entire evening of friendly, entertaining television shows? Well, Fonzi, “happy days are here again!”

As WPXI-TV celebrated its 50th anniversary of serving Pittsburgh with information and entertainment, the station launched a new channel featuring classic television hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Viewers of Retro Television Network (RTN) can enjoy traveling back in time by watching their favorite episodes of such all-time great shows as I Love Lucy, Rockford Files, Mission Impossible, Magnum PI, Happy Days and others. And, a whole new generation of children will be able to enjoy Little House on the Prairie, Laverne and Shirley and Family Ties.

The digital RTN channel premiered on October 15 on Comcast Cable and Armstrong Cable. WPXI is one of many stations around the country that will feature this fun, friendly channel.

“I can't tell you how often viewers call me asking us to bring classic programming back to modern television,” said Mark Barash, Director of Programming at WPXI. “So, we'll take classic network shows and mix in some of WPXI's rich history of local programming favorites, to provide television that will be appointment viewing.”

In addition to numerous classic TV shows, RTN features local nostalgic programming specials that are sure to bring back fond memories. “Pittsburghers love to reminisce about the history of this area in the 60's and 70's. Classic television shows from that era speak to our community, and we believe folks will fondly receive this new channel,” said Ray Carter, VP and General Manager of WPXI-TV.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with COX Television and WPXI in Pittsburgh,” said Mark Dvornik, Executive Vice President of RTN. “For over 50 years, WPXI has brought its viewers some of the best shows on television, and RTN will continue that tradition with our Prime Time All the Time schedule.”
