A man was arrested after stealing from a Wal-Mart and using a counterfeit weapon in the process.

South Strabane police were called to the Trinity Point Wal-Mart location after there were reports that David Gilbert, 31, was firing a BB gun both inside and outside the store.

A Wal-Mart official told police Gilbert tried to steal three cell phones.

Police tracked Gilbert to a nearby Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop and found that he had locked himself inside the women’s bathroom. A pellet rolled out from under the door after the police banged on the restroom door.

Gilbert surrendered shortly after the banging on the door and is being charged with retail theft and possession of counterfeit cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
