"I feel so blessed to be working within an industry for which I have such a passion! And, to be able to do that in a city so rich with culture, history and, of course, sports, it just doesn't get any better than that!" "—Jennifer AbneyAnchor for Channel 11 Morning News and Channel 11 News at Noon
Jennifer Abney joined Channel 11 News in October 2008. However, she is no stranger to the morning news scene. In 2007, Jennifer was named “Best Anchor” by the Alabama Associated Press as the morning news anchor at WKRG-TV. She also received first place Associated Press awards for Best Health, Best Series and Best Feature reports during her time in North Carolina at WECT-TV.
While she has received many television awards, Jennifer is also proud of her off-air accomplishments. Jennifer began a holiday fundraiser at WECT-TV for local children. In its second year, the project raised more than $100,000 for the Salvation Army.
Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Marketing from Troy State University, where she also anchored the college cable newscasts and volunteered with the Kappa Delta sorority.
Currently Jennifer and her husband, Clay, enjoy travelling, kayaking and spending time with their Jack Russell Terriers, Einstein and Hula, and their cat, Bella.
