David Johnson is co-anchor for Channel 11 News at 5 and 6, with Peggy Finnegan, and co-anchor for Channel 11 News 11 at 11 with Darieth Chisolm. He also anchors The Ten O'Clock News on PCNC, and hosts Talkback, a local viewer call-in show. David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan are the longest running anchor team in Pittsburgh.David arrived at Channel 11 in January of 1985 as noon anchor and evening reporter. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. While earning a Bachelor of Science in broadcasting from the University of Florida, David started his career in television. His expansive career took him to Jacksonville, Chattanooga, Orlando, and Atlanta before coming to Channel 11. David is married to WQED's Nancy Polinsky, and the couple has two sons.
Since his start at Channel 11, David has earned recognition on stories such as the rescue of the Quecreek miners, the devastating San Francisco earthquake in 1989, and space shuttle coverage. David has received numerous Pittsburgh Press Club Golden Quills, as well as a Florida Associated Press Award for "Best Spot News". He feels the most memorable stories of his career are the attack on America on September 11, 2001, the 2003 war in Iraq, the earthquake in San Francisco, and the amazing rescue of the Quecreek miners.Currently David volunteers weekly at the NCJW Children's Waiting Room at the Allegheny Family Court Building. He is also involved with St. Barnabas "Presents for Patients" and the MDA Telethon.David is proud to be a part of the longest running news anchor team in Pittsburgh with Peggy Finnegan.
