Kaufmann's & WPXI-TV Present The Celebrate The Season Holiday Parade

Parade To Be Broadcast In HDTV

Pittsburgh’s largest annual parade, the 24th Annual Kaufmann’s/WPXI-TV Celebrate the Season Holiday Parade will be televised live from downtown on Saturday, November 27, 2004 from 9 AM to 11 AM on WPXI-TV. Channel 11 News Anchors Bob Bruce and Peggy Finnegan will host the parade, along with John Fedko and Darieth Chisolm handling celebrity interviews on Fifth Avenue.

The theme of this year’s parade is “Legends” featuring music legend and Rock-N-Roll Hall of Famer, Chubby Checker. Additionally noted Pittsburgh Music Legends, Walt Maddox, Etta Cox, Kenny Blake, The Marcels, Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners, and The Jaggerz will perform.

There will be special guest appearances from Richard Karn, the host of “Family Feud” and Eddie Mekka, “Carmine” from Laverne and Shirley, Herbie, the Love Bug, and former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff.

Also featured in this year’s parade will be Jimmy McGuire, from the Jeopardy! Clue Crew, The Radio Disney Dancers, Costume character Bugs Bunny, the Kaufmann’s Bagettes and Elvis Tribute Artist “Kavan.” WPXI-TV’s “Gimme the Mike” winner, Nathan Wise will sing a holiday song.

For the first time ever, viewers with High Definition television sets will be able to watch the parade with the finest quality television picture available, HDTV. “The high definition pictures will be crisper, clearer and seem almost 3D. Colors will be more vibrant and the audio will have distinct digital quality” said Mark Barash, WPXI-TV’s Program Director. WPXI’s telecast of the parade in HDTV will be the first non-sports local high definition telecast in Pittsburgh.
FOR THE KIDS

An encore presentation of the parade will be telecast on PCNC from 7:00-9:00pm on Saturday, November 27, 2004 and it will repeat on WPXI-TV on December 24th, Christmas Eve from 1:00-3:00am.
