Hard hitting Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will have a starring role in Super Bowl XLIII and not just on the field.

Polamalu will star in Coke Zero commercial. It’s a new take on a classic Super Bowl commercial.

During Super Bowl XIV, between the Steelers and Rams, an ad featured a young fan giving “Mean” Joe Greene a Coke as the defensive tackle limped into the locker room. Twenty-nine years later, it's Troy's turn.

“Deciding to use a Steeler and to use Polamalu, I couldn't be happier, “ said Greene.

Greene wonders if it was like the shoot years ago.

He asked Troy, “What I want to know Troy is, how many Cokes did you drink and how many times did you burp?”

Channel 11 didn’t get all the answers to those questions, but we learned how hard Polamalu worked to get ready for the role.

“They had me rolling around to try to get grass stains. I went above and beyond what my call is,” said Polamalu.

His hard work paid off. The beginning of the new commercial looks just like the old one, but the similarities end there.

“It's not the same, but it is, and I think the way it was put together is just perfect,” said Greene.
