EZ Pass Program Frustrates Drivers
Transponders Not Working Properly

PITTSBURGH -- The EZ Pass is not so easy for some drivers on the Pennsylvania turnpike.
The program is experiencing some problems.
In one week, nearly 4,000 transponders were sent back to the turnpike commission.
More than half had malfunctioning batteries.
The transponders are attached to a car's windshield and allow cars to drive through a plaza without stopping.
Turnpike leaders point out that the number of transponders returned are a fraction of the number in use.
