What caused Tuesday morning's traffic nightmare?

An event called Get Motivated kicked off at 8 a.m. at Mellon Arena.

About 15,000 people are expected to attend the seminar.

And there are some big names there -- among them are former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and the Steelers' own Ben Roethlisberger.

But for people headed into the city, the event caused some tempers to flare and massive headaches.

The back-ups started just after 6:30 a.m.

It was bumper-to-bumper along all of the main arteries into the city.

At one point, the drive times for the Parkway West were well over an hour.

The event traffic coincided with rush-hour traffic, causing a substantial impact to everyone’s commute to and from downtown.

Many surrounding parking lots were sold out early Tuesday morning.

Get Motivated will provide extra event parking at Heinz Field Lot 1. There will be free shuttle buses from Heinz Field Parking Lot 1 to Mellon Arena.

Shuttles will run during lunch and at the end of the event.

Will this event affect your evening commute?

The seminar is scheduled to wrap up at about 4:45 p.m.
