Pope Begins Week-Long Retreat
Pope Benedict attended a ceremony in the Vatican marking the start of a week-long Lenten retreat on Sunday evening (February 17). The spiritual retreat comes just days before Benedict becomes the first pontiff in centuries to resign. The Pope has now retired to the Vatican's Apostolic Palace for the scheduled, week-long spiritual retreat and will not make any more public appearances until next Sunday (February 24).
