PITTSBURGH -- Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States. Many people lose their loved ones every year, including event planner, Aundriea Sharp and owner of Chelsea’s of New York, Michele Garris.“We both lost our fathers to heart disease so we decided to do something special in memory of them,” Sharp told See and Be Seen.Sharp and Garris hosted 'Pink With A Purpose' at Dolce Lounge in the South Side on Jan. 22 to benefit the American Heart Association.The event included hors d’oeuvres, a desert buffet, a silent auction and a fashion show which featured models dressed in Chelsea’s of New York gowns, which was emceed by one of Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest, Frank Murgia who was recognized for being active in the community and raised money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.Everything inside Dolce was decked out in pink, even the desserts!Pittsburgh companies and corporations attended, including A-listers such as one of 2010’s Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest, Justin Bray and Chelsea's of New York National Model Search winner for 2009, Olivia Marshall.Sharp and Garris’ heartfelt event for the memory of their fathers turned out to be a successful one, and helped raise money for a very important cause.If you would like to make a donation to the American Heart Association, please visit www.americanheart.org.
