Hundreds Attend Open Casting Call For Katherine Heigl Film

WPXI.com's Nicole Salopek and Laura Halas wonder if lady luck was on their side after attending the 'One for the Money' casting call at Kingsley Center in East Liberty.

The open call was hosted Tuesday by Nancy Mosser Casting agency for hopefuls 18 and older to be cast as a paid extra in the upcoming feature film starring Katherine Heigl.

Hundreds jumped at the chance to be cast, and Nicole and Laura were there to give WPXI.com viewers the scoop on the application process.

Before attending the casting call, Nicole and Laura imagined a scene similar to getting the must have gift of the season on Black Friday; long lines, impatient customers and grueling weather.

Fortunately, Nicole and Laura found the process was pretty quick and painless as they arrived at the beginning of the call.

Laura was surprised at the efficiency of the process. She said she walked into the building and right away was able to go to the registration desk.

Each applicant received a clipboard with a somewhat simple questionnaire with instructions to complete and to return it to the desk.

The questions ranged from the obvious name and address to the more difficult waist, height and weight mysteries.

If anything was a clue about what the agency was looking for, it was definitely the questions towards the bottom of the application.

For those of you who are wondering, they wanted to know if you had a car, what make, the color and the year, or if you had a dog.

For someone who hasn't read the book, Nicole said her prediction would have to be a high speed chase through a suburban neighborhood. Okay, maybe that's a little far-fetched.

Guess we are all going to have to wait and see if Nicole or Laura had what it took on the written application!

The final part of the process was getting your picture taken so it could be placed with your application.

All in all the process was a piece of cake, taking about 10 minutes tops for Nicole and Laura!

If you were unable to attending the open casting call, you can still create a free, online profile at mossercasting.com to be considered for a role as an extra.

By the way, Nancy Mosser Casting is still looking for African American boys around the age of 10 who are able to play basketball for a scene in the film. More information is available by clicking here.
