Brief break from showers across Pittsburgh area

PITTSBURGH — After several rainy days over the past week, the WPXI-TV viewing area will see a much needed reprieve from the unsettled weather Tuesday.

While a spotty shower is not out of the question near the I-80 corridor, it’s not very likely.

Drier air is in place, helping to keep showers away, but it also means we’ll feel better. The drier air, combined with the northwesterly winds will allow for the more comfortable airmass to stay in place through the midweek.

A wave of moisture will push through western Pennsylvania Wednesday, bringing the chance for a shower or storm. Daytime heating would allow much of the action to be during the afternoon, but showers will still push through for the morning hours.

Thursday should remain dry for now, but it will feel much different than the days prior. Heat and humidity will be cranked up thanks in part to a southerly flow.

The high Thursday will jump near 90 in Pittsburgh with dew points getting into the 60s and perhaps low 70s. Dew points in the 60s and 70s make it feel very uncomfortable.

While temperatures will drop back near average Friday and through the weekend, shower and storm chances increase.
