said periods of rain would continue Friday night, slowing travel and impacting outdoor plans. Areas of fog formed overnight, reducing visibility at times as well.

The continued rain forced the postponement of at least one Fright night high school football game. The Bethlehem Center-Charleroi game was rescheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m., according to Bethlehem-Center district officials.

Winds also picked up again Friday evening, gusting to 30 mph and blowing leaves onto roadways. Cropper said the wind make the air feel much cooler as temperatures gradually fell into the 40s.

A few wet snowflakes was possible overnight Friday, especially north of Interstate 80 and in the higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette counties, as well as northern Maryland, Cropper said.

Looking ahead to Saturday, fall will make its return after a week of summer-like temps. Cropper said it will be a blustery weekend with winds continuing to gust over 30 mph at times, making it feel even colder.

“Wind chills will drop into the low to mid-30s early in the day, with a gradual warm-up by Saturday afternoon,” Cropper said.

Any lingering scattered showers Saturday will gradually fade, leaving a mix of clouds and sunshine.

Cropper said less wind and more sunshine is expected Sunday.
