Widespread rain to taper to scattered showers through day Tuesday

PITTSBURGH — It was a wet morning commute across the Pittsburgh area Tuesday, and while the precipitation fell as rain, there were a few icy spots reported.

Rain will continue through the afternoon as a warm front lifts north across the area. Some rain will be steady and heavy at times, mainly earlier in the day.

The afternoon will remain wet, but most of the rain will taper to occasional showers. There can be wet roads for the evening commute, however it will be much quieter than the morning.

Any leftover showers will linger into Wednesday, but should start wrapping up in the afternoon. It's possible a wintry mix will fall north of Interstate 80 and in the ridges during the morning, but no accumulation is expected.

Temperatures will push above average Tuesday afternoon. The high will reach near 60, which is just shy of the record of 63, set back in 1990.

Temperatures remain above average through the weekend with high pressure giving us dry weather Wednesday night and Thursday.
