As soon as Barack Obama's speech was over and I had written, recorded and filed my stories for Friday morning, my efforts shifted from journalism to tearing down my equipment and packing it up for St. Paul, Minnesota.

This year is especially awful on many of us from Washington, D.C., as the conventions are back to back.

I fly today from Denver to Minneapolis and will start re-assembling my broadcast equipment on Saturday.  The GOP Convention begins on Monday, Labor Day.

Here is a souvenir from the trip, as Neal Boortz and Royal Marshall stopped by for a visit to my workspace.

I swear, we all look like a bunch of goofballs with all of our ID's and special passes to get into the different security areas of the convention.

Those two flew home immediately after the show on Thursday; Neal will be joining me in St. Paul over the weekend, while Royal will drop off and be replaced by Belinda.

What's always funny at this juncture is how different the next convention will be. Democrats always seem somewhat disorganized for an event like this. There's just this sense of limited chaos with the Democrats that you don't get with the GOP.

Also getting to experience that is our morning team from KRMG-AM in Tulsa, Joe Kelly and Rick Couri, as they will join the rest of us in Minnesota as well.

The shot on the right shows the three of us yakking on the air in the ABC Radio section of the Pepsi Center. They seemed to have a very good time, so the trip was well worth the money.

Joe, Rick and their program director Drew Anderssen were especially excited when I told them about the infamous Corn Dog cart that was serving us food out in the parking lot. It was sort of hidden behind some trees, so they had missed it on the way in and out of the Pepsi Center.

It was probably the only other place that was selling Fried Pork Chops!

The burgers were actually pretty good, but I finally broke down and had the corn dog just hours before the nice ladies that ran the cart closed up shop for good.

Yes, my doctor would not be happy with me, but it was GOOD!!
