My first event as an intern at WPXI was Bike Night at the Hard Rock Café in Station Square. Not only did hundreds of motorcyclists show up for the event, but the Clarks played a few tunes on an outside stage.  Also, Star 100.7 gave away a trip for two to London inside the restaurant.

Intern Alyssa and I went down to Station Square and first snapped a few photos of guests rolling in on each of their unique motorcycles. From Harleys to Kawasakis, there was quite a variety of unique two-wheelers. The Pirate Parrot even came to the event, on a bike of his own. He invited Alyssa to hop on the back of his motorcycle for a ride.

I was surprised at the huge turnout for the event. It was a cool sight to see hundreds of bikes lining the street at Station Square. It was also funny to see how eager rugged, tough-looking bikers were to get their picture taken.

We then went inside the Hard Rock as Bubba from the Star 100.7 morning show was giving away a trip for two to London, England for a four-day, three-night stay. The package also included tickets to a concert featuring Bruce Springstein.

More than 50 winners from a radio contest were able to come down to the Hard Rock and pick a key from a jar. Some of these keys were able to open a chest, which contained the grand prize. Only 5 of the 55 keys picked could open the chest. Inside there were five wrapped boxes, each containing different prizes, including Pirates and Colbie Collait tickets. Only one box however, contained the grand prize of the London trip.

After the five people with the correct keys picked their boxes, it was time to get the winner. The winner of the grand prize was definitely excited to be going to London. He jumped up and down on stage for five minutes like a little kid on Christmas, but rightfully so! It was an awesome giveaway, and I really liked the way in which Star gave away the trip, with the keys and the chest. Bubba was very entertaining as well as a host.

Finally, Alyssa and I went outside where the Clarks were playing. They were playing some of their own hits as well as some Rock classics, as bikers and other people who had come down to enjoy the outdoor event listened.

Overall it was a great event to kick off the summer, and Alyssa and I had a good time taking pictures and interacting with the bikers! I have lived in Pittsburgh my whole life and never really took advantage of going to events like this in the area. I look forward to going to more!
